Qualified as a solicitor in 1972 and initially worked in private practice.
For 15 years was a full-time prosecutor in Derbyshire, West Midlands and, as a Branch Crown Prosecutor for three and a half years, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire.
Since 1991 has worked in private practice in Yorkshire. Initially with Fabers in Harrogate. From 1999 was a full time Crown Court Advocate as consultant to William Hicks in Bradford prior to her call to the Bar.
Member of the Criminal Bar Association.
Was appointed an Assistant Recorder in 1997 and a Recorder in 2000, sitting as such until 2005
