He undertakes the most serious criminal defence and prosecution cases (those cases in which the gravity and complexity of the offence warrants the services of Queen's Counsel) as well as undertaking regulatory work, prosecuting and defending corporate defendants including well-known Public Limited Companies accused of breaching Environmental Legislation and Fire Safety Regulations.
Tahir's main area of specialism is in serious crime, with an emphasis on serious drugs prosecutions (most of which were undertaken for HM Revenue & Customs), complex multi-million pound frauds and the most serious cases of violence including gangland shootings, manslaughter cases and murder.

Tahir Khan QC defended in a widely-reported trial of a preacher accused of historic rapes and other crimes against six different victims, and a woman in a "slow-burn provocation" murder trial in which she was accused of setting her adulterous husband on fire after pouring petrol on him and igniting it. He also prosecuted a double murder trial reported in the national media ("The Tong Murders").
Tahir defended a man accused of murdering his girlfriend by strangulation, a man accused of murder by beating his disabled victim to death, and another Defendant in a multi-million pound mortgage fraud.
Tahir Khan defended a man accused of child abduction, another accused of kidnapping a barrister's wife and baby daughter, and appeared for the defence in a multi-million pund bank fraud case. He also prosecuted a "gangland" shooting.
