Gerald Hendron specialises in prosecuting and defending the most serious criminal offences including homicide, sexual offences, drugs and dishonesty in the capacity as both Leading Junior or Junior alone. He also has significant experience in complex Proceeds of Crime Act applications for the confiscation of criminal assets. He readily undertakes factually or legally complex cases involving multiple defendants and is noted for his client care skills, especially in exceptionally sensitive cases.
Having been in practice for two decades Gerald Hendron has considerable expertise in cross-examination, particularly where paediatric/gynaecological expert evidence indicative of sexual abuse in both adults and children is crucial to a case. Gerald is also known for his prowess in handing computer-based criminal matters, having been involved in hard drive analysis and forensic retrieval in indecent images/deleted communications (such as MSN, Facebook and Yahoo live chat). Gerald's additional strengths include his incisive analytical skills when exploring DNA evidence and the statistical pitfalls that occur in criminal cases, such as the "prosecutor’s fallacy".
He is also used to dealing with Cell Site positioning evidence and has a good knowledge of its strengths and limitations. Technology features prominently in Gerald's practice, including examining high-volume telephone billing patterns between multiple defendants. This technical expertise extends to "Drug Impregnation" cases involving qualitative analysis (through MassSpec, for example), forensic analysis of accountancy and bank transactions between bank accounts in large scale fraud cases. To this end, Gerald is firmly grounded with the latest technology. He is also known for dealing with firearms offences and the associated ballistics evidence.
In keeping with Broadway House Chambers' pedigree in regulatory law Gerald has been instructed in a number of cases for the defence, including Health and Safety Executive prosecutions of private companies and individuals in the work setting such as in the construction industry. Gerald has acted for victims' families in fatalities in the medical setting where there was possible negligence in the hospital setting, those potentially responsible for breach of CORGI-registered activities and corporations in fatalities at work allied to Health and Safety prosecutions.
