Peter Hampton is a Criminal Law specialist and has been a member of Broadway House Chambers since 2004. His practice is mixed and spans the full breadth of criminal matters.

He is regularly instructed to prosecute by the CPS, Local Authorities and by private clients, as well as to defend, by a broad base of defence solicitors. He has appeared in a number of cases which have made headlines in the press, and he has particular expertise in handling cases where clients may have learning difficulties or other mental disorders. He holds Grade 3 prosecutor status with the Crown Prosecution Service. Peter has recently had involvement in a series of serious and complex trials, including the prosecution of six defendants for conspiracy to murder and the defence of a paranoid schizophrenic charged with arson with intent to endanger life.

In addition to general criminal work Peter Hampton is also instructed to act in hearings before the Parole Boards, in Coroners' Inquests (including in cases surrounding deaths in custody), and in Judicial Review applications.
