Michelle Colborne KC, Laura McBride and Ella Embleton-Brown Prosecute Halifax Historic Care Home abuse of children case

Michelle Colborne KC, leading Laura McBride and Ella Embleton prosecuted this harrowing case related to the abuse of children, entrusted into the care of Malcolm Philips and Linda Brunning, at Skircoat Lodge Children’s Home, between the mid 1970’s and early 1990.

Linda Brunning was sentenced to 25 years in prison. Malcolm Philips, who was unfit to stand trial due his medical condition, was found by the jury to have done the acts alleged, nonetheless. He has been made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order and placed on the Sex Offender’s Register for Life.
