Abigail Langford Secures Suspended Sentence in Death by Dangerous Driving Case


Abigail Langford successfully represented P in a complex and sensitive case heard at Bradford Crown Court.

P who suffers from spastic paraparesis, experienced a sudden leg spasm at a junction, causing him to unintentionally accelerate and lose control of his vehicle. He then mounted the pavement and hit two pedestrians, killing 80-year-old M as well as injuring his wife.  

Miss Langford highlighted her client’s age, his early guilty plea and his caring responsibilities for his wife. Professionals treating P’s condition had also not advised him to stop driving.

P received a two-year suspended sentence.
